Who are you, and what gives you the right to talk about health?

I’m Kat, a late-20-something personal trainer living and working at a Boston-area women-only gym.  Before training, I spent many moons pursuing a BA and MFA in Creative Writing.  Since graduating, I’ve had a hankering to work on a large-scale writing project, but nothing ever stuck. I was bummed– my writing friends were SO into book projects; why wasn’t I?  Why couldn’t I fantasize about conversations my characters had or come up with enlightening and carthatic plotlines for short stories?

Then I realized that the thing that I do spend a lot of time thinking about one subject:  women’s health and fitness.  Whether it’s how to program for a client with specific limitations or about society’s focus on appearance, my mind’s always buzzing with thoughts about the fitness industry.  Thus, this website was born: as a means to collect ideas and research together for a book.

Sometimes the post will be a little long.  Sometimes I’ll be writing about stuff that’s randomly specific.  The point is to start examining how we define health, what we do to try to achieve it, and so on.

Theoretically, there will be new posts every Thursday and Sunday, but we’ll see how that goes. 😉
